Our Values

The following values, which were derived from the Missions of the Good Shepherd, the Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes Inc., and the Little Brothers of the Good Shepherd, were identified and defined by a focus group consisting of representatives of management, staff, board and Brothers of the Good Shepherd.

All decisions and activities of the Good Shepherd shall be based upon these defined values as an expression of our Mission, which is rooted in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church and the teachings of Jesus Christ, along with our motto of Charity Unlimited – Never Stop Loving.

Our defined values shall also be integrated into all of our Human Resources Systems in a manner that describes Mission@Work within the Good Shepherd, provides a basis for effective employee/management relationships, and identifies the criteria for the selection, education, recognition, retention and measurement of qualified Human Resources.

Respectful of Life, as a Catholic organization, we commit ourselves to respond to our brothers and sisters in need with the following defined values:

Availability: As employees of Good Shepherd, we must be present at all times to those who come to us seeking acceptance and assistance including those with the most challenging needs.

Hospitality: We must welcome with sincerity, kindness, generosity and compassion all those who come to us seeking assistance.

Flexibility: We must be able to prioritize our activities and find creative ways to respond to the needs of those we serve.

Adaptability: We must be able to accept and respond to the uniqueness of all people. We must be open to evaluation, new ideas and be able to adapt to constantly changing conditions.

Dignity: Without prejudice, we must show just regard for the dignity of all. We must respect each human life, mindful of the Christian belief that all people are created equal in the eyes of God.
