HOMES Program

(Housing with On-Site, Mobile and Engagement Services)

In October 1999, the Provincial Government selected Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes to provide 100 units of housing and related support services for people who were homeless and living with a mental illness. Early in 2000, an additional 93 units of housing were allocated by the government. Another 56 units are being acquired in 2007.

Through this program, individuals are relocated from the streets and from temporary shelters to stable, secure, affordable housing.  Support is provided seven days a week by on-site teams for tenants at four sites, and by four mobile teams for tenants living in privately owned apartments scattered throughout the city.
