HOST Program
(Housing Outreach and Support Team)

In October 1999, the Provincial Government selected Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes Toronto to provide 100 units of housing and related support services for homeless people with mental illnesses.

Early in 2000, an additional 40 units of housing were allocated by the government. Through this program, individuals who are homeless and have severe mental health issues are relocated from the streets and from temporary shelters to stable, secure, affordable housing.

Good Shepherd Non-Profit Homes has developed relationships and lease agreements with private landlords scattered throughout the City of Toronto.  Support to tenants is provided by Community Mental Health Workers on two mobile teams.
