Second Stage Services

Good Shepherd’s Second Stage Services offers women and children who have left abusive situations the chance to re-establish themselves in the community. Available to both single women and those with children, Second Stage Services offers furnished, affordable housing for up to one year and a range of programs and supports geared to creating greater physical, emotional and financial stability in the aftermath of violence and abuse.

Second Stage Services are provided as part of the continuum of woman abuse and children’s support services offered by Good Shepherd Women’s Services.

Our Services

All services are free and confidential:

  • Affordable housing for women and their children who are leaving an abusive home and are struggling to re-establish themselves in the community
  • Individualized support services (e.g., safety planning, counselling, building support networks)
  • Housing support (e.g., assistance in finding and maintaining permanent housing)
  • Access to counselling, referrals and advocacy
    Legal support
  • Support with budgeting and securing employment
  • Groups and one-to-one support for women and children
  • Recreational and therapeutic programs for children
